History

Prior to September 2007, the station was KILE, with a [Multi-Language] talk radio

 format, and was the only one in the Houston area to broadcast in many languages.

The current all-sports format began on August 20, 2007.

Travis Rodgers, former producer of the Jim Rome Show, hosts the afternoon show, and multiple Rome show "Smack-Off" winner Sean Pendergast ("Sean the Cablinasian") hosts the midday show. Rodgers' and Pendergast's shows are now syndicated by Yahoo! Sports Radio, which is owned by the same company that owns KGOW.

Weekend programing starts at 7:00am (CST) Saturday with Texas Outdoor News, followed by the Danny Arnold Show at 8:00am. From 9:00am to 10:00am (CST), the station airs a soccer specific program, The Orange Slice, hosted by Brian Balboa, with Bogdan Pasat, Brian Zygo, and Joe Ashmore. Then at 10:00am its The Southbound Food Show with Bryan Caswel of Reef and Little Bigs fame. During the college football season, John Harris and Sean Pendergast host College Football Overdrive from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

The Vince Rachel Show is broadcast on Sundays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

During daytime hours, KGOW broadcasts its signal from a tower near Rosharon, TX at a strength of 50,000 watts. At night, the signal broadcasts from a tower in Bellaire, TX at a strength of 1,000 watts. Currently, KGOW is constructing a 15,000 watts night transmitter in the Katy-Hockley area; once the transmitter is online, it will be the second-strongest night-time signal in the city of Houston.
