KABB was the only major English-language network-affiliated television station in San Antonio without 16:9 widescreen or high-definition newscasts. This changed on August 3, 2011, when KABB introduced a new set and began broadcasting its newscasts in high definition. This made it the fourth San Antonio station to begin airing newscasts in high definition.

History
KABB was launched as an independent station on December 16, 1987 — The now sister KMYS (then KRRT) became a charter Fox affiliate a year earlier in 1986. KABB was initially owned by the Alamo Broadcasting Corporation before it was sold to River City Broadcasting in 1989. In 1995, after KRRT gave up Fox for UPN affiliation, KABB picked up the Fox affiliation and has been a Fox station ever since. River City merged with Sinclair in 1996.
