Welch would join Elastica in 1991, who would go on to have considerable chart and critical success in the mid-1990s.
Like other members of Elastica, he had some problems with drugs, although he is now said to be clean. The band split in 2001 and Justin now lives in Devon
, with former Elastica and Heave keyboardist
