Joseph Candolfi was born in Reconvilier, Switzerland, ordained a priest on July 1, 1947. Candolfi was appointed bishop to the Diocese of Basel as well as Titular Bishop of Frequentium on June 1, 1983 and ordained bishop June 29, 1983. Candolfi retired on March 30, 1996 as Auxiliary bishop.
