The sending off of two Danish players was considered especially egregious and was most likely the reason he was never selected to referee in a World Cup again. The two Danes he sent off were both substitutes and had not already received a yellow card and none of their faults were regarded as worth more than a warning. The South African player sent off, a substitute as well, already had a yellow card but was sent off by a direct red card which was regarded as a very harsh decision.
