Brief Biography: John Robert (“Bob”) Greene has taught at Cazenovia College for the past thirty-one years. He also serves as the College Archivist, the director of the Washburn Teaching and Research Fellowships, and the director of the annual Wheler Conference on World Affairs. Dr. Greene’s teaching and writing specialty lies in American Political History, particularly the American presidency. He has written or edited fifteen books, many of which have utilized Cazenovia College students as research assistants, and several of which have featured the published writings of those students. In 1993 he was named Distinguished Faculty Member, and in 2000 he was awarded Cazenovia College's first endowed chair.

Dr. Greene specializes in American history and the American presidency. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the 1952 presidential campaign. While researching the dissertation he traveled to archives around the United States and examined the personal papers of many of the politicians who participated in the campaign. Major collections he utilized included the papers of Dwight D. Eisenhower
and Robert Taft
, the two main Republican contenders for the nomination, and the papers of Adlai Stevenson and John J. Sparkman, the Democratic presidential and vice presidential candidates. Greene completed the dissertation in 1983. He then rewrote portions of the manuscript and it was published in book form in late 1985 by University Press of America, under the title The Crusade: The Presidential Election of 1952. Since then he has written several books, as noted above.
