He has been a member of the board of directors of the NSU Foundation, and he has received honorary memberships in the Blue Key International Honor Society and Graduate 'N' Club. The 2007 legislative elections marked the first time in modern history that Natchitoches would be represented by Republicans in both chambers of the state legislature.
