Jimmy Chin

Jimmy Chin was born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota and is an accomplished climber, mountaineer, skier and photographer. He has organized and participated in numerous climbing, ski-mountaineering and exploratory expeditions to China, Pakistan, Nepal, Tanzania, Chad, Mali, South Africa and Argentina.

His achievements include climbing first ascents of big walls and alpine towers in the Karakoram Mountains of Pakistan; crossing the Chang Tang Plateau in north-western Tibet on foot; and attempting the direct North face of Mount Everest, alpine style.

In October 2006, Jimmy achieved the first successful autumn Everest summit attempt in four years with Kit DesLauriers, skiing back down the mountain. Jimmy has been featured in numerous publications, including ‘National Geographic’, ‘Outside’ and ‘Men’s Journal’, and has been voted as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors by ‘People’ magazine.

In May 2007, he joined the Altitude Everest Expedition as a climber and expedition photographer in an attempt to retrace George Mallory

 and Sandy Irvine's fateful last journey up the North face of Everest.

Jimmy is a Nikon user mainly and does most of his still shots with either a Nikon D700 or a Nikon D300s; whereas for videos he chooses canon 5d mark ii.
