Plot summary

Sanjay lives a poor lifestyle in Darjeeling and makes a living as a Tourist Guide. There he meets Calcutta-based Priya Khanna, and both fall in love. When she receives word that her dad has been arrested, she returns home, and with a lot of problems does manage to secure her dad's release. Sanjay goes to drop her, but meets with an accident while returning from airport. His soul is escorted to the entrance of the heaven gates, where it is found that he is not supposed to die. So his soul is returned back to earth, with the intention of returning in his body. But he finds that his body has already been cremated. So the only solution for his soul is to find another body.
He goes to Calcutta and finds out that Tarun Kumar is his duplicate,who gets murdered by his own plotting brother(Prem Chopra). He enters Taruns body, and starts living his life, only to find out that Tarun Kumar was a criminal. So he sets all wrongs right.
Meanwhile Priya then finds out that Sanjay/Tarun Kumar is also in Calcutta, both meet and plan to get married. Her dad finds out and cautions her against meeting him as this person's real identity is Tarun Kumar Saxena - the very man who had him imprisoned. Priya disbelieves her father and goes to meet Sanjay - and this is when she will find out that her dad told her the truth.
Tarun Kumar's secretary Rita is working with his brother in plotting to gain control of all the wealth. Rita fakes marriage and tries to blackmail Tarun Kumar. In the end things go wrong, and rita is murdered by the brother. In the end, the brother confesses all his crimes after a fight with Tarun Kumar. The police arrest the brother, and Tarun Kumar lives happily with his new wife, Priya, after donating all his wealth.
