Jean Machine were British retail stores in the early '70s founded by Tony Lonsdale, known as the 'Blue Jean King'. He initially brought jeans over from California and after initial resistance amongst wholesalers, he was forced to set up shop on King's Road. Jean Machine was born and became a huge, almost immediate success across the UK, where it gained cult status, with more then 100 doors opening throughout the UK and at one point, four on Oxford Street.
Jean Machine is being relaunched in London in December 2011 as a men's jean's brand.
