Jawhar Namiq Salm' Salim Sorani was an Iraqi Kurdistan
i politician and very respected person.
He was born in 1946 in a village close to Kalar In Iraqi Kurdistan.
He studied Economy in Baghdad, later joined the Kurdish rebels and its leader Mustafa Barzani.
In 2003 he was appointed to the Follow-Up and Arrangement Committee
, which brought together various opposition parties against the government of Saddam Hussein
.
He was the secretary general of the Kurdistan Democratic Party from 1999 to 2003 and the first speaker of the Kurdistan National Assembly
from 1992 to 1999.
He died in 20/21-03-2011 in Stockholm in Sweden.
