Biography

As Vice Mayor, Moskowitz authored the Parkland Energy Incentive Reward Program which is the only program of its kind in Florida

. Through this program the City of Parkland refunds tax dollars to residents if they participate in several green initiatives. Moskowitz also co-authored an ordinance requiring all commercial shopping centers to convert parking lot lighting to solar power within 10 years. In addition, he sponsored single stream recycling in Parkland and the retrofitting of Parkland City Hall with solar panels. Because of his leadership on environmental issues, Commissioner Moskowitz was appointed by the Broward League of Cities to the Broward County Climate Change Task Force where he currently serves as Vice Chair.

Moskowitz was one of the first elected officials in the nation to lead on the issue of Chinese dry wall. He helped create a task force to investigate and collate documents and statistics to send to members of Congress. His most recent endeavor was authoring and sponsoring an ordinance restricting texting while driving

During the 2008 Presidential Campaign Moskowitz emerged as a national Democratic fundraiser. He was selected to be a Florida Delegate at the 2008 Democratic National Convention
