. His autobiography Boven het maaiveld was published in 2001 with anecdotes from the Hague politics and the ever-changing world of mass media. In January 2011 Nagel launched a new party 50PLUS to participate in the Provincial States elections of 2 March 2011. Provincial States members will be electors of the Senators of the First Chamber and Nagel announced to head the Senate list of 50PLUS. 50PLUS won a sufficient amount of votes to get Nagel a seat in the Senate's staged elections that will conclude on 23 May 2011.
