from 1872 to 1902. He was a U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania from 1902 to 1905. He was a judge on the Court of Common Pleas No. 2, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania from 1905 to 1908.
Young was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania
. Young was nominated by President Theodore Roosevelt
on January 14, 1908, to a seat vacated by Nathaniel Ewing
. He was confirmed by the United States Senate
on January 22, 1908, and received his commission the same day. Young served in that capacity until February 25, 1914, due to his death.
