Playing career

Keane first played for the Adelaide Redwings of the South Australian Ice Hockey Association in the 2003 season. The following year Keane signed with the Adelaide Avalanche

 (AIHL). In his debut season with the Avalanche Keane played 14 games and only managed to record three assists. He continued to play for the Avalanche until end the end of the 2008 season when the team folded due to financial reasons. The following season Keane signed with the newly formed Adelaide Adrenaline who had entered the AIHL to replace the Avalanche. In his first season with the Adrenaline the team went on to win the AIHL's Goodall Cup

 and Keane scored 23 points in his 21 regular season games. As well as playing for the Adrenaline in the AIHL Keane also plays for the Adelaide Blackhawks in the South Australian A Grade competition.

. Australia finished fourth and Keane failed to score any points in his four games. The following year he re-joined the national under-20 team to play in the 2004 IIHF World U20 Championship Division III tournament. Australia finished first, gaining promotion to Division II for the following year while Keane finished the tournament as the leading scorer with 16 points. In 2006 Keane moved up to the national senior team to compete in the 2006 IIHF World Championship Division II Group B tournament being held in Auckland
