John "Jack" Powell was a Welsh

, Powell began his football career with Druids
in 1879 before transferring to Bolton Wanderers
in October 1883. He was forced to leave Bolton in 1885 due to a transgression of FA Cup
rules regarding professionals, but not before turning out six times in the competition for the club. He then signed for Newton Heath in 1886, eventually becoming club captain. By the time he left the club in 1890, he had made four FA Cup appearances.
Over the span of his career, Powell made 15 appearances for Wales
