The Irondale High School winter drumline and winter guard
have had success at the state level. In 2009, the drumline was named the Minnesota state champions for the second year in a row, and the colorguard was named the Minnesota state champions for the 14th consecutive year. Both also frequently perform at the Winter Guard International
World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. The Winter Guard was crowned Schlastic Open Class World Champions in 2002 at WGI and the Winter Drumline was the 2003 Scholastic Open Class Bronze Medalists.
Irondale is also home to FIRST
Robotics Team 2052. Team 2052 (nicknamed Knightkrawler) was founded in 2007 by Irondale students Jeff Lou and Will St. Charles. This team now competes in multiple competitions throughout the year including the North Star (Minneapolis) and Lake Superior (Duluth
) regional competitions. Knightkrawler is also famous for its Knightbot, a robot that is shaped like a knight, that comes to Irondale's sporting events.
Irondale's drama program puts on four productions yearly, as well as a competition one act play.
The Irondale girl's hockey team made their first appearance in the state championships in 2009, winning the consolation bracket.
Irondale's Dance Team has also made recent appearances at the state level, competing in the jazz division in 2006, 2007, and 2009, and competing in the kick division in 2007 and 2009.
