Ipswich Station is a railway station on the Ipswich Line of Brisbane

. It was the first railway station built in Queensland
, as the first terminus for the Rosewood railway line.
It is now part of the Queensland Rail

in South East Queensland
. It is also one of the few Citytrain
stations with buildings built over itself for other purposes.
The station is in Zone 7 of the TransLink
integrated public transport
system.
Plans were made for the station to be relocated to Darling Street in 1918, however never eventuated.
In 1978 a large office and retail complex (currently known as Ipswich Central Plaza) was built above the station and spanning both sides of Bell Street following the sale of air rights
. The last remaining old platform and buildings were demolished in 1985.

History
The first railway station opened in Ipswich in 1865. In 1887 the station was completely rebuilt.Plans were made for the station to be relocated to Darling Street in 1918, however never eventuated.
