History

Information TV came into existence in April 2003, and received its ITC
Independent Television Commission

 licence in November 2003. It began broadcasting at 10am on Monday, 19 January 2004 on Sky EPG channel 692. On 7 June 2004 the channel moved EPG to channel 588, in the News and Documentaries section of Sky. On 8 October 2004 the channel launched a broadband simulcast via the company website. On 26 May 2005 the channel moved to channel 277. On 28 February 2006 the channel moved to channel 181. Its second channel, Information TV 2 later launched on channel 182. On 18 June 2007, Information TV and Information TV 2 moved to channel 167 and channel 168. On 1 September 2008, Information TV and Information TV 2 moved to channel 166 and channel 167.

Information TV 1 started broadcasting on from Friday 8 August on Freesat

On 30 September 2010, Information TV +1 launched on 189 in the Sky EPG. The EPG slot was purchased from the Open Access Group

Information TV

Information TV broadcasts programmes from government departments, public bodies and other public institutions. The channel's stated aim is to provide UK citizens with access to valuable information and allow their clients to reach their target audiences effectively. The channel also helps start-up TV operations launch, by providing them slices of the schedule to facilitate proving their concepts and getting on air quickly as 'Micro Channels'. The British presenter Bronia West currently appears.

Showcase TV

Although it appears with the name "Showcase TV" on the Information TV official website, the channel launched as "Showcase" on the Sky platform on channel 216 in the UK on 8 February 2010, perhaps to avoid confusion with defunct CSC Media Group channel Showcase TV

As of 21 April 2010 Showcase was moved to channel 201 and Showcase 2 was launched on channel 216 replacing the Unexplained Channel. On 5 July 2010, Showcase was launched on Freesat channel 403.

As of 1 September 2010 Showcase 2 was moved to channel 203, with channel 216 becoming a 1 hour time shift channel for Showcase (Showcase +1).

Showcase was formerly Information TV 2 on channel 167. On the 1 October 2009, Information TV 2 ceased broadcasting after Quest

Launched on the Sky platform channel 216 in the UK on 21 April 2010. Replacing the Unexplained Channel, some of the public domain films previously shown on the Unexplained Channel are shown on Showcase & Showcase 2.
