The Group also sponsors the "Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism" awards in 14 categories which carry a cash prize of INR 100,000 in each category, except for the prize for "Journalist of the Year" which carries a INR 250,000 reward. The awards were instituted on 12 April 2006 by the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, at a formal event in a hotel in New Delhi.

The Express Book Series was instituted in 2007 with the launch of India Empowered, a compilation of articles written under the India Empowered campaign that appeared in The Indian Express. Over the years 21 books have been released by renowned authors including P. Chidambaram, Tavleen Singh, N.K. Singh, Arun Shourie, Harsha Bhogle, Mani Shankar Aiyar and Jerry Rao.
