In February 2004, there was an earthquake near Imzouren that registered 6.7 on Richter scale. 1000 victims died there. Imzouren is annually visited by thousands of tourists, including Moroccan travellers and European tourists. There is a large number of cafés and terraces and a lively night life. It is home to an SOS Children's Village.
