The site is now being talked about as a place to put a new performing arts center, which would be the second for the town, the first being at Barnstable High School

. This facility has no running water inside of its confines and no gas heating. The Sturgis Charter School's basketball team practices within the facility and the lack of heat has sometimes led to temperatures inside being colder than those outside. The plan to tear down the facility and replace it was shelved when the economy collapsed in 2008.
