. It is a part of Humboldt Community School District, and serves grades nine through twelve.
Humboldt High's students took the Iowa Tests for Educational Development (ITED). The 11th graders had 84% at or above proficient in reading, and 88% proficient in math, with a state average of 78% for both subjects. Students that score above 40% are considered proficient on this standardized test
, which is used to compare Humboldt students to their national classmates.
Humboldt Media Center receives approximately $4,000 annually to improve and update the reading material. There are 48 computers available for student access. The media specialist is Susan Tomlinson.
Physics, chemistry, and astronomy teacher Daniel Holste won the Air Force Association's Fort Dodge
Chapter Teacher of the year for 2006-2007. He was also awarded with the State AFA Teacher of the Year award. He was selected due to his combination of outstanding teaching ability, hands-on teaching approach, and promoting aerospace
education in his classes. Winning at the state level, he received a $1,000 check, personalized jacket, certificate and a Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education membership. Holste announced at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year his intentions to retire from teaching, effective at the end of the year.

is also performed at the auditorium. Carlson, for whom the auditorium was named, was a superintendent

Humboldt Football was 12-1 in 2006, and won a Class 3A State Championship. In the Championship, played in the UNI-Dome

27-9. Jordan Smith, the Cats leading rusher, had 223 rushing yards in the win, a championship game record. Smith received $1,000 for college for his efforts. Current junior redshirt linebacker
