Hugh ran his own polo school and club, the Whitfield Court International Polo Vision School, in the UK between 1976 and 2002. Well known internationally, he has visited 15 different countries on coaching trips. He conducted 10 annual polo clinics at the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club starting in 1983. As well as this he became the British Army polo coach.

Hugh is the Author of two books 'Polo Vision' and 'Playmaker Polo' as well as making a 'Polo Vision' film. The 1991 edition of 'Polo Vision' received forwards from Julian Hipwood (Captain of the England Polo Team) and Tommy Wayman (Captain of the USA Polo Team). 'Playmaker Polo' was forwaded by the 10 goal player Gonzalo Pieres.
