Hoy por hoy is a Spanish
radio program, produced by the news department of the Cadena SER
. It is the most listened-to radio program in Spain
with an average of about three million listeners a day and is considered the most listened-to program in Spanish radio history. Directed and presented by the journalist Carles Francino
, the program is broadcast from Monday to Friday, from 6:00 in the morning to 12:20 in the afternoon. The program, on news and current affairs, spends the first hours reviewing Spanish and international general information, especially political matters. It features live interviews with the most relevant figures of the day, including the main political leaders and leaders of government.
The two last hours, the program takes on a more carefree tone with various sections on different themes, in which humour is also acceptable.
Hoy por Hoy started on September 22, 1986, directed and presented by Iñaki Gabilondo
. During its first years on the air, the program had a big rivalry with Protagonistas, directed by Luis del Olmo, which was then the leader on Spanish radio in the mornings. But in the mid nineties, Hoy por hoy reached the first position with more than three million listeners a day. Nowadays it is still the most listened-to radio program in Spain

On August 30, 2005 the Cadena SER announced the most important change in the history of the program: Iñaki Gabilondo
, director and presenter for almost 19 years, left the program to take charge of the evening news program of the new television network Cuatro (TV), belonging to the same media group as Cadena SER, the Grupo Prisa
