Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network

The Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network (HLST) is one of 24 Subject Centres funded within the Higher Education Academy
to promote high quality learning and teaching in UK Higher Education
(HE) by providing subject-based support for sharing innovations and good practices. The subject centre was established in May 2000 as part of what was then called the Learning and Teaching Support Network
, which in turn then became part of the Higher Education Academy
. It is hosted by Oxford Brookes University
. The Director is Clive Robertson
One of the primary aims of the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Network is to encourage pedagogic research and disseminate its outcomes to the wider academic community. With this in mind, and with the intention of spreading the work and coverage of the Network to a range of academic institutions, the Pedagogic Research Project Fund was launched in late 2000.
Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education
The Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education (JoHLSTE) a peer-reviewed international e-Journal published twice yearly by HLST and is freely available online. The e-journal aims to promote, enhance and disseminate research, good practice and innovation in all aspects of education in the hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism subject areas.

HLST's Resource Guides provide guides to texts, journals, websites and other resources pertaining to the HLST subject areas.

HLST's website contain a large number of case studies relevant to the hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism subject areas. These cover the following categories:

An online resource to support student research project work in Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism. Supported by the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network Pedagogic Research and Development Fund.
LINK Newsletter
LINK (Learning through Innovations, Networks and Knowledge) is published three times per year, with each edition focusing on a different topic relevant to learning, teaching and assessment in the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism subject areas.
Enhancing Series
HLST, in partnership with Business, Management, Accountancy and Finance
(BMAF), has commissioned the Enhancing Series, a series of books consisting of case studies around themes of interest to educators, written by staff from the business, hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism communities. Two titles were published during 2008 through UK publisher Threshold Press.
