The 1st Assembly of the 3rd Political-Military Region of the People's Liberation Movement of Angola (MPLA), held on March 23, 1969, stated that in his memory, April 14 is to be celebrated in Angola as the Angolan Youth Day. He was buried near the river Lundoji 30 miles from the then headquarters of Karipande, from the Front East of the 3rd Political-Military Region. In August 1968, the MPLA assigned to Hoji-ya-Henda the title of "dear Son of the Angolan people and heroic fighter of the MPLA". An assembly which gathered in Cabinda
