 opened. With its big box store concept, the Centrum lured customers away from Hazeldean Mall. Toward the end of the decade, the mall underwent an extensive period of renovations, which completely removed the brick floors and wood panels, replacing them with much lighter coloured hues, and also installing a fountain. The space occupied by Zellers was expanded as well, and Pharma Plus expanded into the space formerly occupied by the TD Bank, also receiving a larger door leading directly to the outside.

The mall's slogan used to be "THE Mall", but is currently "It's Better Inside."

There are a few tenants at Hazeldean Mall today that have been there since the mall first opened, although all of them have changed locations within the shopping centre. They include:
