The next station to the east of Haydon Bridge was , which closed in 1967.
The station's distinctive manually-operated wooden level crossing
gates (as seen in the accompanying photograph) have been replaced by modern lifting barriers in January 2009, although they will remain under the control of the adjacent signal box
