History

Hawai‘i Pacific Health was formed in December 2001 with the merger of four hospitals: Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Pali Momi Medical Center (formerly Kapi‘olani Medical Center at Pali Momi), Straub Clinic & Hospital, and Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Electronic medical records

Hawai‘i Pacific Health ranks among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide in adopting electronic medical records (EMR).

Community partner

  • Hawai‘i Pacific Health provided $108 million in community benefit in fiscal year 2009. This included $10 million in charity and uncompensated care.
  • Hawai‘i Pacific Health is affiliated with the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine and Hawai‘i Pacific University.
  • Hawai‘i Pacific Health is a member of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i Consortium.

2009 Quality Awards

  • Kapi‘olani Women’s Centers were awarded the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (doctors who specialize in mammography and breast diagnostics), placing Kapi‘olani in the top 5% nationally.
  • Pali Momi was awarded the 2009 American Heart Association’s “Get With The Guidelines” Coronary Artery Disease Gold Performance Achievement Award and Heart Failure Silver Performance Achievement Award.
  • Straub Clinic & Hospital was awarded the 2009 American Heart Association’s “Get With The Guidelines” Coronary Artery Disease Gold Performance Achievement Award and the 2009 National Organ Donation Silver Recognition Award, becoming the only hospital in Hawai‘i to receive that recognition.
  • Wilcox Memorial Hospital was awarded the 2009 American Heart Association’s “Get With The Guidelines” Coronary Artery Disease Gold Performance Achievement Award, Heart Failure Silver Performance Achievement Award, and Stroke Silver Performance Achievement Award.
