Virology

The virons consist of a coat, a core, a nucleocapsid, and projecting fibers at the pointed end. They are are ovoid (droplet shaped), enveloped, 70-95 nm in diameter and 110-185 nm long. The surface of the viron has a beehive-like ribbed surface pattern with protrusions that are densly covered by a 'beard' of long fibers at its pointed end.

The genome is non segmented double started DNAwhich is ~20 kilobases in length.
