 following the death of its former master, Gigelf Liqueur, Grospoliner was freed by Katsumi; doing so required Katsumi to give the sword some of her blood. This done, Grospoliner was released and able to bond itself with Katsumi, which made the sword effectively weightless to her. It has since become like an extension of Katsumi's own body.
