when he was 5 years old and went to St Leo Elementary, St. James Junior High, and Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary, Alberta. After high school, he graduated from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with an Engineering diploma. He worked as a draftsman for a local Calgary Instrumentation company before quitting his job and striking out on his own as a freelance graphic designer. That company was Image Club Graphics, inc, and eventually became the leading supplier of digital art, typefaces and stock photography to the emerging electronic publishing industry through its very popular Image Club catalog. Image club was acquired by Adobe Systems in 1994.
After Greg's retirement in 1994, the Image Club division was purchased back from Adobe Systems by a long-term, key Image Club employee Brad Zumwalt and a group of investors. The division was renamed Eyewire, and was eventually sold to Getty Images
.
In 1986, shortly after starting Image Club Graphics, Greg launched his 2nd entrepreneurial venture called Sharper Cards which made and sold printed dental marketing products. In 2003 Greg and his wife and business partner Helen (who was also acting CEO of Sharper Cards), sold the company to their largest US competitor, Smart Health, inc. of Phoenix, AZ.
In 2000, Greg changed focus to improving his health. In 8 years, he has completed 12 Ironman triathlons and qualified and completed at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii by winning 4th place in his division at Ironman Arizona in 2006. Greg has finished 18 marathons and has competed at the Boston marathon.
Greg has been featured on Discovery Channel's Daily Planet show twice, on the cover and two-page spread in Popular Science magazine, featured in Men's Journal, Wired magazine, National Geographic, Explore Magazine, the 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records book, and dozens of national and local newspapers, TV and radio shows, and online media sources.

Greg is planning an ocean crossing by human power in 2010, and is hoping to complete his "human power triple crown" (human powered world records on land, sea and sky) with a human powered flight record.
