Greek National Road 9 is the second-longest national highway of Greece
. It runs through the western Peloponnese
, from Patras
to Pylos
. Its length is around 220 km (136.7 mi).
This highway travels near:
and the whole Western Peloponnese as well.
It will be completely replaced by a new motorway, numbered A9, which will be complete around 2012. Initial plans were to widen the existing road, for most of its length, but a completely new motorway will be built after all. Construction starts in late 2007.
