Grant Louis Reuber, OC

(born November 23, 1927) is a Canadian
economist, academic, civil servant, and businessman.
Grant Louis Reuber, the son of Daniel and Gertrude Reuber, was born in Mildmay, Ontario
. He was educated at Walkerton High School. He received an Honours Bachelor of Arts
degree in Economics
from the University of Western Ontario
in 1950. In 1954, he received his Masters in Economics from Harvard University
and his Ph.D in 1957.
From 1962 to 1969, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Western Ontario. In 1969, he became the first Dean of the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Western Ontario and was named Vice-President (Academic) and Provost in 1974.
From 1979 to 1980, he was the Deputy Minister
of Finance
. From 1983 to 1987, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bank of Montreal
. He was Chairman of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation
.
From 1988 to 1992, he was the Chancellor of the University of Western Ontario.
In 1986, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada
. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada
