. Grandville is one of the oldest suburbs of Grand Rapids, and was incorporated as a city in 1933.
Grandville was geographically an important place during the logging years in Michigan's history due to its location at the "river-bend" of the Grand River. It was important to have people there to make sure the logs didn't jam up as the river turned north-west toward Grand Haven.
Grandville is located near the southwest corner of Grand Rapids
. The western border of the city of Grandville is also the western border of Kent County

In the city the population was spread out with 27.9% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.
