in 2002 after not featuring in Singapore's 0-4 defeat against Malaysia in the first match. Singapore was subsequently knocked out at the group stage of the tournament.
However, he redeemed himself in 2004 after forming a remarkable partnership in central midfield alongside Hasrin Jailani as Singapore won the tournament.
In 2006, he had a feud with national team coach, Radojko Avramovic
and refused to give him a public apology. Because of this, he was never picked to play for the national team since that incident.
He retired from professional football in early 2007.
