His father saw that he had potential to become a football player and decided to move to Tirana for a better career for Progni. His father took him to the local team KF Partizani Tirane Progni showed that he had the skills and the ability to become a professional football player. KF Partizani Tirane accept Progni in to the junior team. He stayed with KF Partizani Tirane for several years until he became a free player.
2004-2005
After the end of the 2004-2005 Championship for the U-19 age group, Partizani (U-19) announced that Gerhard Progni was not to be included in the 22 of KF Partizani Tirane first team.
