Much of the road is concurrent with other routes - U.S. Route 29, U.S. Route 78, U.S. Route 129, U.S. Route 441, State Route 8 and State Route 15 - that pass through the Athens area; only U.S. Route 78 Business, State Route 10 and State Route 15 Alternate pass through Downtown Athens. Inner/Outer directions

maps indicated that State Route 422 had been commissioned to cover the same route as SR 10 Loop. New exit number
