George Hungerford

George William Hungerford, (born January 2, 1944) is a Canadian
lawyer and Olympic gold medalist rower
. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia.
George attended High School at Shawnigan Lake School
on Vancouver Island where he learned to row, after high school he went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts
degree in 1965 and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1968 both from the University of British Columbia
. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1969. He has been a lawyer with Fasken Martineau
since 2000.
He won the only gold medal
for Canada at the 1964 Summer Olympics
in Rowing (pairs) with Roger Jackson
. They were also awarded the Lou Marsh Trophy
in 1964.
In 1984, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada
