As Yann reported in a 2007 interview http://www.bengalcorner.blogspot.com/2007/03/interview-with-yann-falquet-genticorum.html, the word Genticorum has no specific meaning. It is simply something that Pascal remembers his grandfather singing, although it carries with it an association with the words gentle and quorum.
Despite their lyrics being in French, Genticorum is best known for touring English-speaking parts of the world. The trio has toured in over 15 different countries, including Canada, the United States, England, Australia, and even more exotic locations like Egypt and Malaysia. Their music is widely received as fresh and exotic outside of Quebec, while retaining a hint of something folkloric that appeals to a wider audience. In addition to touring, the group is active in Quebec’s traditional dance scene, and offers custom tailored bilingual workshops on fiddle, flute, guitar, songs and foot-tapping. Genticorum’s 2005 second album Malins Plaisirs won the Canadian Folk Music Award for “Best Ensemble” and was nominated for a Juno
