Contributions

A study by the Andhra University in India in 2007-2008 has found cures for 47 diseases with 90 plant species of Angiosperms from three major local tribes: Bagatas, Konda Doras and Valmikis. It is shown that centuries of culture in these parts brought the consumption of vast amounts of herbs and plants. Many of which have been used simply because of their beneficial effects on the human body.

Over time, a steady decline in tradition has been causing many of these plants to be unused, and without cultivation inevitably disappear. Many potential cures disappearing is a growing concern in the biomedical community.

The collection, identification and documentation of ethno medicinal data on biological are very important. These plants may cure some major diseases; however, these tests are not fully validated scientifically. Low research costs are a common method used to convince other scientist foundations to provide funding for this reason.
