. Previously known as Galgotias Educational Institutions, it was granted university status in 2011 by Uttar Pradesh government. Galgotias University was established by the Uttar Pradesh Galgotias University Act No. 14 of 2011 under section 3 of UGC Act 1956. The university's admission cut-off lists show its high requirements, putting the university in one of the top looked-after private universities in country.

Location

Galgotias University (Galgotias Education City) has its main campus in Greater Noida near Jaypee Sports Complex (Buddh International Circuit) while the original campus of Galgotias Educational Institutions is located at Knowledge Park-II right beside Noida Expressway.

Campus

Galgotias University campus is located at Noida-Delhi and is surrounded by agricultural land and educational societies. The campus has separate hostels for boys and girls. The wi-fi campus has a fully automated library and a student activity centre for co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The university boasts a state-of-the-art auditorium and conference and seminar halls.

Central Library

The Central Library consists of a number of departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes. All students, faculty members and employees of the institute are entitled to use the library facilities. Besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and bioinformatics, humanities and social sciences, and mass communication, it offers library services through its divisions. The library uses a Libsys/SIM software package (an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations). Libsys consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC. The Central Library has 9925 titles, 74585 volumes, 238 national journals, 165 international journals, 75 magazines, and 760 CDs. The library is in institutional membership with DELNET and American Central Library.

Web SIM and FFCS

Web SIM is a student service offered to Galgotias University students that stores all student data from personal details to placement details, library information, assignments, holidays information, etc. Every student is given a username and password that can be used to access this data.

Galgotias University offers four types of subjects: University Core, University Elective, Programme Core and Programme Elective. The Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) enables students to chose their elective subjects independently and provides flexibility to chose their hours of lectures. Students are supposed to complete the required number of credits by choosing the right programmes and attending the required number of lectures.
