) is a German heroine and sculptor. She is remembered as the "Angel of Mogadishu" for her heroic role in a notorious hijacking, and is also noted for her abstract beechwood sculptures.

 when it was hijacked by Palestinian terrorists. During the ensuing protracted captivity, she was a pillar of support and hope for the other hostages, and was lionized by the German press. She was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her role in the affair. She later married her fiance, Lufthansa pilot Rüdiger von Lutzau, who piloted the plane carrying the commandos of the rescue force.

Two films of the hijacking were made: The Dead Pool (1997), in which von Lutzau is played by Susanne Schäfer, and Mogadishu (2008), in which Nadja Uhl

From 1984 to 1995, von Lutzau studied art under Walther Piesch at the art school of the University of Strasbourg

Her works are mainly wooden "guardian figures", created mostly from beechwood but also from black locust

She describes her work as "sentinels, wings, and life signs" crafted from "discarded wood - unwanted, sometimes grown under hard conditions - gnarled and twisted and finally felled." Since September 11, 2001, von Lutzau has colored her guardian figures black (they had previously been blue).
