Having joined the National Salvation Front in 1990, she followed it into the transformations that led to its transformation into the present-day PSD; since 1998, she serves on the party's National Council; until 2001, she was also Secretary of the PSD Women's Forum, and, since 2005, she is Vice President of the National Social Democratic Women's Organization.
As a deputy, Creţu served on the Committee for Culture, Arts, and Mass-Media. She is the mother of one son.
