The France national under-18 football team is the national under-18 football team of France
and is controlled by the French Football Federation
. The team serves as a feeder team to the under-19 team
as its matches aren't competitive. The under-18 team only participate in friendly matches and tournaments, such as the SBS Cup and the Taça do Atlântico
.
The 2011–12 international under-18 campaign will begin on 23 August 2011 and current coach of the under-20 team is Francis Smerecki, a former football player, notably with Le Mans and Limoges
. Prior to coaching for the French Football Federation, he had domestic coaching tenures at USL Dunkerque
, En Avant de Guingamp, and AS Nancy
. In the 2010–11 season, Smericki coached the under-19 team
to victory at the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship
and led the under-20 team
to a fourth place finish at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup
. The current captain of the under-18 team is Auxerre
defender Raphaël Calvet.
Caps and goals are as current as the squad's previous match against Slovakia on 13 October 2011. Please note that these players are currently playing either on their club's reserve team or in the youth academy.
