Lewisham Council ran a public consultation from 27 April 2009 to 29 May 2009 to help determine where and when the new centre will be built. The consultation report will be discussed at a Mayor and Cabinet meeting on 15 July 2009, when a decision will be made on where and when the new pool will be built.

Forest Hill Pools have been closed pending their redevelopment following health and safety advice. Detailed investigations of the building will now be undertaken to establish the extent of the problems with the roof.
