Thousands of demonstrators attended the inaugural ceremonies in Washington, D.C. to protest the anticipated policies of Bush and the outcome of the 2000 U.S. Presidential Election. Four protesters were arrested and Bush's limousine was hit by a tennis ball and an egg thrown from the crowd during the inaugural parade. An estimated 300,000 people attended the swearing-in ceremony.
