First Harrogate Trains was a proposal from First Group and Renaissance Trains
, who are the owners of First Hull Trains, as well as several other current and former train operating companies.
The application to run trains was denied by the Office of Rail Regulation
(ORR) in a preliminary report released in January 2009, and in a final decision in February 2009.
Had it been successful, it was intended that services would have commenced in the summer of 2009.
