, elected at the 2010 general election.
Born Fiona Claire Riley in Wick
in the Scottish Highlands
and was educated at Burnley High School for Girls
. She went on to study law at the University of Manchester
and Chester
Law College.
She was admitted as a solicitor in 1981, and was the founder and senior partner of Fiona Bruce & Co since its creation in 1988.
She was elected to Warrington
Borough Council in 2004, on which she served as the executive member for finance from 2006-2009. She stepped down from the council on her election in 2010.
She unsuccessfully contested Warrington South
at the 2005 general election
, finishing second to the sitting Labour MP, Helen Southworth
.
Following her selection as the Conservative Party candidate for the constituency, she denied that she had been chosen as a result of an orchestrated campaign by religious groups sympathetic to her evangelical Christian beliefs.
She has been a member of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee since 2010.
She was awarded the title Small Businesswoman of the Year in 2003 and gained a place on the Conservative A-List in 2006.
